Having taken GEL 101 was a really great experience. I learned a lot about myself that I was not aware of before. For example the strengths quest test showed me strengths that I have but had not executed because I did not know I had this potential. The module with Sarah Sheikh was also very interesting to me because I learned the importance of listening. Listening is the key to solutions with problems in life. This module also made aware of some of family values that I had lost in my life course without knowing it. It also made me realize some of the mistakes I have made in my life like judging other people without really getting to know them ahead of time. Intereacting with my classmates has also made more talkative and less shy.
Now that I have some college experience I would say that my greatest challenge would be time managent. Because I have a family this makes it extra hard balancing my time between school, family, and work. There has been at least three times where I have broken down because of load of homework, chores at home, taking care of my family and work. What I should do in overcoming this obstacle is to take deep breaths first of all and just have patience with myself and my family. I think that over all I am very responsible about school work and take my education very seriously. If this means to work extra hard, or stay up late I will do it because I am determined to graduate. I believe in myself and since this is not the first time I have obstacles in my life I believe that I will succed with the help of my family and friends. If I have made it this far, (yes it was very hard) but everything is possible if one believes it can happen.

Blog 1: Introduction Letter
Hello,
My name is Isabel, I attended Fallbrook High School. I'm not really away from home because I drive to the university, but I would consider my home to be Fallbrook because this is where I grew up and most of my family is here. I have been living in Fallbrook ever since I was eight years old. My major is pre-nursing, I want to major in nursing because I like helping people in their needs. The biggest influence in life was my grandmother. My grandmother was a midwife and when I was a little girl I watched her work with pregnant mothers and that's what I wanted to do when I grew up. She was my inspiration to become a medical assistant and now to further my education in nursing. The other person that has influenced my life would be my father. My father is very hard working man, he is very passionate about education and he is a stiver. He has taught me to work hard and to obtain what I desire in life. I remember when I started school as a little girl he expected the best grades from me and those were only "A". As I was growing up I hated it but now that I am an adult I value what he was doing for me. I assume he wanted the best for me and with grades like "A's" I could get into any college I wanted and to have a better future and a better job.
I chose to attend college because I want to be a role model to my family and because I want a better future for my children. I chose CSUSM because it's close to my home, my family and because it offered the nursing program. My biggest fears in college would be to fail my classes, to not be able to manage my time between school, work, and family. My second fear would be financial problems, I am scared that I will not get enough financial aid and not have money to pay for college and of course not able to continue my education.
I love scrappbooking, so I scrappbook when I have some free time. I also like sports, sometimes I play basketball or volleyball with my sisters. I also like running, I use to be in track and field when I was in middle school. I run 2-3 times a week, just to be in shape and because it gives me energy.
What I like best about myself is that I am determined, I am organized, and I am honest. I am passionate about education, I like learning something new everyday, and like finding out new things out in the world. If I could be somebody in my life without concern of money or talent I would be a mucisian. I love music, in particular playing any type of instrument. I know how to play the guitar by ear, I wish I knew how to read music but I don't. Music has always been around me ever since I was little girl. Most of my family knows how to play at least one instrument. I was forced to play the guitar by my Dad when I was little but I ended up loving it so I play the guitar on my free time. Eventhough I can only play by hearing I enjoy singing and playing with my guitar and when I need some time to think or when I feel blue I just play and sing. This is the reason I would be a mucisian.
